If I had only stayed with medieval romance (which I love), I would never have written Dancing on Air (Victorian), Rain & Black is the Colour (medieval inspired fairytales) or McKellan's Run (Aust. rural romance).
Some of the stories may not pan out (I'm still not sure about my Steampunk one). However, I tend to think that the stories are part of us and are surfacing for a reason, so why not give them a little attention and love and see what happens.
As for the tricky question about branding, I suppose it comes down to your unique voice. If they like the way you spin a tale perhaps they won't mind if the story is about a hot Viking, a Fae lord or a sexy sheep farmer. *crossing my fingers*
Nicole xNicole Hurley-Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17266777090280108555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7209593064896164465.post-81273422737011960202014-12-28T12:26:43.892+11:002014-12-28T12:26:43.892+11:00I so get what you are saying. Like you I hope to write across genres, I like speculative fic and there is even a WWI story floating in my head. Yesterday Victorian era was sounding pretty intriguing. The question is branding, audience reception etc....but I'll work that out when I get there.....the steampunk sounds intriguing ?Nicolette Hugohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08895816726007486628noreply@blogger.com
