A New Year

Hi everyone and happy New Year!

As we look to another shiny new year and all the possibilities it may bring, I thought I would re-examine my writing. What I want, what I don’t want, and the themes and stories that I would like to explore over the next twelve months.

I’ve decided to put aside a story for the time being. Not because I don’t believe in it but because no matter which way I looked at it, I couldn’t get it to flow. I’m hoping by putting a little distance between us, I’ll be able to finish it at a later date.

Instead ,I’m revisiting an idea I half planned out last year. It’s a fantasy (medieval fairytale) and at the moment I’ve manage to match the word count of my previous story in four days. So yes, the story appears to be flowing from my fingertips, which is always a good thing.

I have an ever growing list of stories to write above my desk. This year (well, yesterday) I drew a red line under the first five. My intention, although maybe a tad ambitious, is to get these stories written within the coming year. They consist of two novellas and three short novels of approximately 75,000 words (give or take).

Whether or not I’ll be able to accomplish this, I don’t know. But I thought it would give me direction, something to aim for rather than being slightly overwhelmed by the number of titles all up. There is also a mixture of different time periods and fantasy/paranormal themes.  I’m a fickled creature and find that I need a change of world between each story. It seems to keep me interested, fresh and inspired.

To other news -

Dancing on Air just received ‘a must read’ 4 star review from BTS Reviews which has kind of made my morning. J It’s on pages 27-28.

I’m also adding a link to Romantic Historical Reviews. There’s a lovely review of Dancing on Air.

I’m taking my medieval fairytale, Rain on a blog tour this month. It begins on the 20th of January. I hope you will join me.

As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope that coming year brings you love, laughter and much happiness.
